Horn Nature Conservation places communities at the center of environmental protection and sustainable development. In Somalia, climate change, environmental degradation, and poverty are deeply interconnected, and long-term conservation outcomes depend on empowered, informed, and healthy communities.
We strengthen community empowerment through awareness raising, capacity building, and inclusive participation in environmental decision-making. Our approach promotes local leadership, community ownership, and meaningful engagement of women and youth in conservation, climate adaptation, and sustainable livelihood initiatives. Recognizing that education and health are critical enablers of environmental resilience, we also support education for the younger generation by promoting environmental learning, school-based awareness, and youth engagement in conservation activities. In climate- and poverty-affected communities, we provide primary health care support and awareness that help reduce vulnerability to climate-related health risks, enabling communities to better participate in environmental and livelihood activities.
