Our Story
Founded in 2018 in Galkacyo, Puntland.
Horn Nature Conservation (HNC) is a non-governmental community-based organization working in the intersection of environmental protection, climate, and sustainable livelihoods. We work to restore degraded ecosystems, protect biodiversity, empower communities, and promote climate-smart solutions.
Based in Galkacyo, we operate across Puntland and collaborate with partners throughout Somalia. Our programmes reach coastal communities, pastoralist groups, smallholder farmers, and urban residents affected by environmental degradation and climate change.
HNC combines on-the-ground conservation action with community empowerment, research, and policy advocacy. We believe that lasting environmental change is only possible when local people have the knowledge, resources, and authority to manage their natural environment sustainably.
